ABSTRACT
STUDY PURPOSE:to characterize the behavioral consequences of our injury model on Morris Water Maze (MWM) latency with high power from combining animals from 3 studies.
DATA COLLECTED:46 untreated sham and 61 untreated injured male Sprague-Dawley rats, fluid percussion injury model, learning and memory assessed by spatial hidden platform (3 days of 4 swims per rat per day) Morris water maze; outcome measures analyzed included latency recorded in seconds and number of platforms found.
PRIMARY CONCLUSION:We suggest the Accelerated Failure Time (AFT) models should be the preferred analytical methodology for latency to platform associated with MWM studies.
